Equipment Obtained Through Military Grant
The Waverly Police Department has received several pieces of equipment from the military through the Defense Reutilization and Marketing Service (DRMO) program. The program allows local law enforcement agencies to obtain surplus military equipment free of charge.
The Police Department recently obtained a military “Humvee” vehicle for use during disasters. “We realized during the flooding last year that a vehicle capable of maneuvering in high water or other hazardous areas could be an asset to our department. This program allowed us to obtain this vehicle at no cost to local taxpayers,” said Police Chief David Daniel.
The Humvee as well as a 6 wheel ATV were recently added to the fleet for use during special operations and events. The department plans to continue to make use of the program as needs arise.
