Firefighters Attend TN Fire Academy

June 12th, 2009 Waverly Firefighters Corey Burkett, Robert Edwards, and Jason Herndon graduated from the Tennessee Fire Academy. They were required to complete a two week course on Basic/Live Firefighting. This course provided them with the basic fire ground skills to participate in “live” fire training activities.  They participated in classroom instruction and practical skills related to live fire scenarios.

Burkett currently works full time for the City of Waverly as a Water Department Supervisor.  Edwards is also a full time city employee with the Water Department.  Herndon is a licensed electrician and a Volunteer Firefighter for the City of Waverly.  Their dedication to become Firefighters for the City of Waverly and its citizens is to be commended.  The City of Waverly Fire Department welcomes them to our ranks.

The Tennessee Fire Service and Codes Enforcement Academy is located in northern Bedford County just 15 minutes south of Murfreesboro Tennessee. The facility is a full service campus on 330 acres in Bedford County, with conference rooms, classrooms, computer lab, live fire areas, dormitory space and a dining hall.
