2010 Firefighter of the Year

The Department of Public Safety has named Firefighter Jason Herndon its 2010 Fireman of the Year.  Herndon is a part-time firefighter and works full-time as an electrician and an instructor at Nashville State Community College.  Herndon was selected by the members of the Department for the award.  “The award is given by his peers and is taken seriously by each member.  Jason is a dedicated member of the Fire Department and is involved in many special projects.  He is a hard-worker and is consistently looking for ways to improve himself and the Department.”, said Chief David Daniel.

This year’s award was sponsored by Volunteer Ready Mix/Vaughn Contractors and included a $250 cash award which was presented at the City Christmas Dinner.  Pictured below are Mayor David Vaughn, Fireman of the Year Jason Herndon, Stan McClanahan (Volunteer Ready Mix) and Chief of Public Safety David Daniel.
