Business Owners Report Suspicious Activity

The Waverly Police Department encourages local businesses to report suspicious activity.  This time of year, property crime tends to increase as the holiday season approaches.  Be aware of anyone in your business who is acting nervously or unusual.

Reporting suspicious persons or vehicles often leads to arrests for other crimes and helps to prevent more serious crime from occurring.  The owners of Cajun Corner recently reported a black male in a grey car with out of town plates who appeared to be “casing” the store.  Officers have placed the business on an extra patrol watch and are looking for the vehicle to investigate further.

WPD Officers are happy to respond to reports of suspicious persons.  Reports can be made by calling the direct dispatch line at 296-7792 or 911.  Dispatchers will ask about what the person is doing, a description and location.  Callers are encouraged to call as soon as the activity is noticed.  We hope everyone has a safe holiday season and helps us keep our community safe by reporting suspicious activity.
