Halloween Events Oct 31
As a reminder to everyone, East Main Street from Cooley Street to Fairground Drive, will be closed to traffic on Friday, October 31 beginning at 4:30pm to 8:00pm for the First Baptist Church’s annual street party. The event begins at 5:00pm. The Department of Public Safety asks everyone to please drive carefully as downtown will be filled with excited children out trick or treating.
“We will have extra officers and firefighters out to help with traffic and all the activities in the city Halloween night,” said Chief Grant Gillespie, “Please slow down and watch for kids in and near the street.”
Officers and Firefighters will be at the event on Main St. handing out “slap bracelets” while supplies last. These bracelets are reflective and can be worn with the kid’s costumes to help make them more visible around traffic.
In addition to the street party, the Waverly United Methodist Church also has a trunk or treat event in their parking lot. The Waverly Tigers also have a home game at WCHS. Officers will be on hand to assist with traffic after the game.
