Local Man Arrested for Pharmacy Robbery

Press Release

March 1, 2022

The Waverly Police Department responded to a robbery at Phipps Pharmacy on Main Street Monday afternoon.  The suspect entered the pharmacy and made it appear he had a gun under his jacket and demanded narcotics.  He was apprehended at the rear of the store.

“The suspect tried to use a Mid-Cumberland van as his transportation to commit the robbery and was sitting inside the van when officers arrived.  You really can’t make this stuff up,” said Chief Grant Gillespie. The Mid-Cumberland transportation service is a public transportation service used to primarily take people to medical appointments.  “When the driver realized what was going on, he got out and alerted police.”

The suspect, Gary Noe, of Waverly, was arrested by Sgt. Shaun Wilson.  He is charged with Aggravated Robbery, Theft, and Simple Possession of a Narcotic.  He is currently in the Humphreys County jail. No one was injured in the robbery.
