Major Theft Investigation at Walmart

The Waverly Police Department is investigating the theft of over 50 televisions and DVD players from Walmart. Detectives Tony Ahne and Jonathan Fortner along with Loss Prevention Officers from Walmart are investigating the thefts, in which an employee of Walmart has been stealing electronics and selling them to local residents. The suspect has admitted that he took the TV’s between January and August of this year, and is cooperating with Detectives in recovering the equipment.

35 televisions have been recovered totaling over $19,000.00 in value. “Anyone who has information about this case, or who may know the whereabouts of any unrecovered televisions should contact the detectives. In most cases, people who bought these televisions were unaware they were stolen and have been bringing them to us voluntarily. We appreciate everyone being cooperative with the investigation,” said Chief David Daniel. The case will be presented to the next session of the Humphreys County Grand Jury for criminal charges.
