Successful Drug Take Back Day

The Waverly Police Department received more than 100 pounds of prescription drugs during its 5 hour Drug Take Back day last Saturday.

The Drug Take Back was part of a national initiative to collect unwanted or expired prescription drugs. The initiative helped keep these drugs out of the hands of children or drug abusers, and provides for their proper disposal.

“We were impressed with the response of the community to this event,” said Chief David Daniel. “This demonstrates our community’s commitment to reducing prescription drug abuse.”

The event was held in conjunction with the US Drug Enforcement Administration and was assisted by volunteers from the Humphreys County Drug Alliance. The event was held at Fred’s Pharmacy in Waverly.
