Warrants Issued in Theft Cases

Warrants were obtained charging Cody Tidwell of Tennessee Ridge with 2 counts of Theft of Property and Criminal Trespass for the theft of lawn mowers and trailers in Waverly.  Tidwell admitted to stealing the property from residences on Dylark Drive and East Main Street in Waverly on July 5 & 7.

Officers Wilson and Fortner noticed Tidwell driving through the area and turn into a driveway on East Main St and begin talking with a resident.  Tidwell was identified after the resident, Jon Maples, called and reported him acting suspicious.  Maples gave a detailed description of Tidwell including a vehicle tag number and cell phone photograph of his vehicle.

Detectives Fortner and Ahne, along with Detective Jackson (HCSO), followed up on the information and interviewed Tidwell who admitted to the earlier thefts, as well as thefts that occurred in Humphreys and Houston Counties.  Tidwell admitted to Detectives that he pulled into Maples’ driveway because he was trying to avoid detection by the officers in the area.

“Mr. Maples recognized the suspicious behavior of Tidwell and quickly alerted the police department, which resulted in clearing numerous thefts.  We encourage everyone to report anything suspicious to the police department to help us keep our community safe,” said Police Chief David Daniel.
