Welcome to the Waverly Police Department, a dedicated 24-hour, full-service police agency committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of the vibrant community we serve, encompassing approximately 4,250 residents. Our team of 13 devoted, full-time Police (Public Safety) Officers is committed to upholding the highest standards of law enforcement.
The Department of Public Safety received a grant from Fred’s Department Store as part of its Hometown Heroes “Hero Hats” program. The grant of over $300 will be used to purchase equipment for the Police and Fire department. Store Manager Sheilah Johnson presented Chief David Daniel with the grant.

The Waverly Police Department urges drivers to watch for deer on roadways this time of year. Deer breeding season begins this time of year and puts them on the move, especially in the dawn and dusk hours, leading to more collisions. Deer collisions can occur anywhere, even on city streets.

East Main Street will be closed to thru traffic from Cooley St. (by First Baptist Church) to Fairground Dr. beginning at 5:00 pm until about 8:00 p.m. tonight. The Waverly First Baptist Church will be hosting their street party in the area and there will be a hayride on East Main St. and Fairground Drive.

Nightmare on Main Street – Haunted House
The Department of Public Safety will be operating a Hauted House, “A Nightmare on Main St.”, on October 21, 22, 28 and 29 from 6pm – 11pm in the old Walmart building next to Fred’s. All proceeds will go to the Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association to be used for future community events.
