The FEMA Response Center in Waverly will be closing as of Thursday June 3rd at 7:00 P.M. Representatives from the Small Business Administration will likely remain on site in the Fire Hall for a few days to assist with small business loans.

Officer David Ross and K9 Axle were presented with the DARE Award today by the 23rd Judicial District District Attorney’s Office. The award goes to someone who has shown extra commitment to the DARE program. Officer Ross and Axle have helped with the program by doing demonstrations with the K9 to help show how we find drugs with the help of our canine.

The Waverly Junior High School 4th Grade class enjoyed a field trip to the Police and Fire Department on Friday, before seeing a movie at the MiDeGa theater… Capt. Grant Gillespie, Officers Devin Elliott and Shaun Wilson, Records Clerk Laura Short, and Firefighter Jason Herndon gave the students a tour of the Public Safety Buildings. The FEMA service center is now open. Hours will be 7am-7pm. They are working from the City of Waverly Fire Hall next door to the Police Department on Main St.
FEMA representatives will be at the City of Waverly Fire Hall on East Main St on Wednesday, May 19th from 12 noon to 7pm. Then starting Thursday, May 20th from 7am to 7pm for approximately one week.
They will be here to answer questions and process applications for assistance.
FEMA has been in the county since last Saturday meeting with people who suffered damages to their property. Many have already received settlements on their losses. Some will have to wait until their insurance claims have been settled.
