The Waverly Police Department K9 Crockett has been awarded a ballistic vest thanks to a nonprofit organization, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. An incentive program offered by Armor Express of Central Lake, MI. to Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. has provided 19 law enforcement dogs in 8 states with ballistic vests. Milling and resurfacing of Main Street and on street parking from Highway 13 to Maple Street has been approved by city officials. This will impact traffic and parking on Main Street when the work begins. We will update everyone in advance so that it will minimize the impact on businesses in the area. The work will be done before Memorial Day, and is in the planning stages.

WDPS Partners with State Fire Marshal to Provide Home Smoke Alarm Installations
The State Fire Marshal’s Office recently presented the Waverly Fire Department with a supply of smoke alarms to be installed in homes within the community at high risk of fire. The department personnel attended an information session and training course on the new alarms, which utilize a battery with a 10-year lifespan.
