Fire Department Receives GrantAugust 31, 2010 The TN Dept of Agriculture, Division of Forestry, recently awarded the City of Waverly Fire Department a grant under its Volunteer Fire Assistance Grant Program.  The $3,000 matching grant will be used to purchase woodland firefighting equipment.  Planned purchases include a generator and high intensity scene lighting, as well as flashlights and a backpack blower to assist with fighting brush fires. Waverly Men Attacked by Dogs August 25, 2010 The Waverly Police Department responded to Richland Avenue at 11:02 am today concerning a man being attacked by 2 Rottweiler dogs.  John L. Mays of Waverly, was walking along the sidewalk when the dogs crossed the street from the yard of 228 Richland Ave. and attacked him.  Mays was knocked to the ground and bitten on the legs by the dogs.  The dogs returned to the owner’s home after witnesses intervened. Fireworks Event this Saturday

The community fireworks event co-sponsored by the City of Waverly, Music on the Square, and Temple-Inland will be held Saturday, July 3, at Waverly Central High School.  Music on the Square will be held inside the football stadium beginning at 7:00 pm, with the fireworks at 9:30 pm.  The fireworks show will be handled by Pyro-Shows and accompanying music will be played on the stadium sound system as well as on WQMV AM 1060. Municipal Court Now Accepts Credit/Debit Cards

The Waverly Municipal Court now accepts credit/debit cards for payment for traffic or other citations.  If you have a citation to pay, stop by the Waverly Police Department Mon-Fri between 08:00 am and 04:30 pm, and the clerk will accept your payment.  For additional information, contact Laura Short at 931-296-4300.
