Seized Vehicle Auction

Drug Search Conducted at WCHS

The Waverly Police Department along with school officials conducted a random K9 drug sweep at Waverly Central High School today.  School Resource Officer Greg Triplett along with K9 Officer David Ross and partner Axle conducted the searches.  “The searches today demonstrate our school official’s commitment in working with the Police Department to keep our schools drug free” said Chief David Daniel. Main St. Closed Saturday for Fall Festival

The Waverly First Baptist Church is holding its annual Fall Festival Saturday Night, Oct. 30, 5-8pm.  Main Street will be closed to traffic to allow for trick or treating, hay rides, music, games and activities.  The family event is open to the public. Man Arrested for Threatening Juveniles

The Waverly Police Department responded to a call concerning some unruly juveniles at the Laundromat in the Waverly Plaza Shopping Center on October 19.  The juveniles told the officers that Shane Clark had displayed a handgun to them while making threats.  Captain Grant Gillespie and Officer Joe Parnell spotted the vehicle Clark was riding in on Main St. and conducted a felony stop on the vehicle near Sonic.  Clark was arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct.  The gun was located in...

DPS Asks for Caution on Outdoor Burning

The Dept of Public Safety is encouraging everyone to use caution when doing outdoor burns.  The unusually dry weather this season has greatly increased risks of a wildfire.  DPS has responded to several grass fires this month as a result of the dry conditions.  Burn Permits are required Oct 15-May 15, and can be obtained by calling 877-350-2876.  We also ask that you notify the 911 Dispatcher on duty when you are going to burn by calling 296-7792.
