Street Closure for Halloween

East Main Street will be closed to thru traffic from Cooley St. (by First Baptist Church) to Fairground Dr. beginning at 5:00 pm until about 8:00 p.m. tonight.  The Waverly First Baptist Church will be hosting their street party in the area and there will be a hayride on East Main St. and Fairground Drive.  The Department of Public Safety encourages everyone to drive safely tonight, expecially in the downtown area.  Please encourage children to be careful when crossing...

Bomb Threat at WJHS

On Friday, September 2 around 7:30am the Humphreys County 911 Center received a call of a bomb threat at Waverly Junior High School. The caller told the dispatcher there was a bomb at the school and hung up. Police Officers and Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the scene and school officials were notified.
