WPD Saddened by Loss of K9 Axle

The Waverly Police Department regrets to announce that our canine, Axle, died this morning from complications of a heart condition. Axle, who was 9 years old, began his service with the Department in 2004. He was certified in narcotics detection and criminal apprehension and tracking. Crimestoppers Reward Offered on Burglary

The Waverly Police Department is requesting your help in locating a Burglary suspect.  On Wednesday December 2, 2011 at about 8:30 PM a white female described as short with brown hair was seen leaving the scene of a burglary on East Main Street near Fairground Drive in Waverly. DPS Receives Grant from Fred’s

The Department of Public Safety received a grant from Fred’s Department Store as part of its Hometown Heroes “Hero Hats” program.  The grant of over $300 will be used to purchase equipment for the Police and Fire department.  Store Manager Sheilah Johnson presented Chief David Daniel with the grant.  Pictured below are Officer Chris Taylor, Sergeant Mike Hubbs, Assistant Manager Debbie Dewitt, Manager Sheilah Johnson, and Chief David Daniel.

The Waverly Police Department urges drivers to watch for deer on roadways this time of year.  Deer breeding season begins this time of year and puts them on the move, especially in the dawn and dusk hours, leading to more collisions.  Deer collisions can occur anywhere, even on city streets.
