Major Theft Investigation at Walmart

The Waverly Police Department is investigating the theft of over 50 televisions and DVD players from Walmart. Detectives Tony Ahne and Jonathan Fortner along with Loss Prevention Officers from Walmart are investigating the thefts, in which an employee of Walmart has been stealing electronics and selling them to local residents. Warrants Issued in Theft Cases

Warrants were obtained charging Cody Tidwell of Tennessee Ridge with 2 counts of Theft of Property and Criminal Trespass for the theft of lawn mowers and trailers in Waverly.  Tidwell admitted to stealing the property from residences on Dylark Drive and East Main Street in Waverly on July 5 & 7. Equipment Obtained Through Military Grant

The Waverly Police Department has received several pieces of equipment from the military through the Defense Reutilization and Marketing Service (DRMO) program. The program allows local law enforcement agencies to obtain surplus military equipment free of charge. Fireworks Event Information

The fireworks event sponsored by the City of Waverly and Inland Container will be held Saturday, July 2 at the Waverly Central High School.  Music on the Square will be moved to the stadium for that night at 7pm, and the fireworks show will begin at 930 pm.  There will be no parking along Highway 70 on the school side of the road.  Handicapped parking will be behind the Vocational School near the north entrance to the stadium.  The Dept of Public Safety will have a command...

Building Repairs Complete

  • News
The repairs to the Police Building including the Municipal Court Room are complete.  The building was damaged by a tornado in May, and included roof damage and water damage.  The City Council has resumed their regular board meetings in the court room, and the next Municipal Court docket will be heard July 13. Costs of the repairs were covered through our property insurance.
